Youth Programs & Services

At ARIZONA@WORK Coconino County, we help young people overcome challenges and build a strong future. Our Youth Program connects teens and young adults to education, career training, and real-world work experiences in growing industries.

 

We focus on supporting out-of-school youth and helping them take the next step toward a good job, college, or a registered apprenticeship.

Who Can Join?

You may qualify if you:

  • Are 14–24 years old

  • Need help with school, work, or job training

  • And meet at least one of these:

    • Not currently in school (ages 16–24)

    • Low-income and attending school (ages 14–21)

    • Need help with basic skills or learning English

    • Are homeless, in foster care, or have been involved with the justice system

    • Are pregnant, parenting, or living with a disability

    • Need extra support to reach your education or career goals

Already enrolled?
You can stay in the program even if you age out during the year!

BOOST Training

Building Opportunities & Optimizing Success Together
Strength-Based Foundation

BOOST helps participants identify personal strengths, clarify their career vision, and build the soft skills needed to succeed in work-based learning, occupational training, or employment.

Collaborative Growth

Through guided reflection, interactive activities, and career-focused exercises, participants learn to transform awareness into action — building confidence, communication, and career momentum.

A hands-on career exploration and work experience model that helps youth connect passions with purpose while building real-world employability skills.

Experience-Driven Learning

Participants engage in paid work experiences, mentorship, and guided reflection to strengthen career readiness and transition smoothly into education, training, or employment pathways.

We team up with local providers who offer real help — from homework support to after-school programs — to keep you on track and ready for what’s next.

If traditional school didn’t work out — no worries.
We help you get back on track with:

Work Experience (WEX) Opportunities

Get real-world experience while building your future.
Through our Work Experience (WEX) program, you can:
 

  • Explore careers in industries you’re interested in

  • Build new skills employers are looking for

  • Get paid or unpaid work experience in real workplaces

  • Learn while you earn through hands-on training

 

We connect you with different kinds of opportunities like:

  • Summer jobs linked to career and leadership skills

  • Pre-apprenticeship programs that prepare you for full apprenticeships and certifications

  • Internships and job shadowing to meet pros and see jobs up close

  • On-the-job training (OJT) where employers pay you to learn while you work
     

Each opportunity is designed to match your goals and help you gain valuable experience that leads to real jobs, higher education, or apprenticeships.

Occupational Skills Training

Ready to level up your skills for a career?
Our Occupational Skills Training program helps you:
 

  • Learn hands-on skills for high-demand careers

  • Earn industry-recognized credentials

  • Train for real jobs — from healthcare to trades to tech
     

You’ll work toward a career goal you choose, with training programs that are focused, practical, and built to get you hired.

 

Depending on your needs, you could even receive an Individual Training Account (ITA) to help cover the cost and let you pick the training provider that’s the best fit for you.

 

Our team and partners are here to make sure you get the skills, certifications, and support you need to move forward confidently.

Leadership Development Opportunities

Step up, speak out, and lead the way!
Our Leadership Development activities help you build the confidence, skills, and experience you need to make an impact — in your career and your community.

Adult Mentoring

Find a mentor who can help guide you, encourage you, and give you the real-world support you need to grow.
 

Our Adult Mentoring program connects you with:

  • Experienced mentors who are there to support your personal and professional growth

  • Structured, meaningful activities to build your skills and confidence

  • A relationship that lasts at least 12 months — even after you exit the program
     

Whether it’s one-on-one, face-to-face time, group mentoring, or virtual check-ins, your mentor will help you stay on track, make better decisions, and unlock your potential.
